The magnificent Team GB designs explore the movement of athletes.
Scottish design studio Tom Pigeon has released six new screenprints celebrating Team GB’s key sports at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and we want all six on our wall right now.
There’s nothing we love more than an eye-catching poster (we’ve even compiled a list of our favorite poster designs) and these are certainly striking with their minimalist approach and muted palette, along with a graphic nod to the red rising sun of the Japanese flag.

The designs are inspired by the movements of athletes in six sports: sailing, cycling, track and field, gymnastics, rowing, and swimming. Movement is transmitted through a series of circles and abstract lines, created as a result of studying and drawing on photographs.
The Olympic Games have a particularly strong relationship with graphic design. Last month, 20 official posters for Tokyo 2020 were revealed. Creative Director Tom Pigeon told Creative Review that they were inspired by classic posters from the 1960s and 1970s and that this “dream collaboration” with Team GB has been “a truly exciting opportunity to explore our incredible athletes through color, line, and shape.”
